Netherlands Film Fund + Hubert Bals Fund Co-production Scheme 2015 selected our coproduction Something Useful for realization. Something Useful is the third film by director Pelin Esmer and received support by HBF+ for screenplay development in 2014. The film tells the story about Leyla, a poet woman in her early 40’s, who meets a nursing student on an overnight train. She is on her way to a paralyzed man who wants to end his life. Leyla decides to accompany her.

Something Useful is produced by Mars Prodüksiyon (Turkey) and coproduced by SinefilM (Turkey), Les Films de L’Après-Midi (France) and Topkapi Films (The Netherlands).

The Turkish film will receive a contribution of €50.000, supported by the Netherlands Film Fund and The Hubert Bals Fund. Netherlands Film Fund + Hubert Bals Fund Co-production Scheme 2015 (formerly known as HBF+) is a funding program from the Netherlands Film Fund and the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
