After already receiving several selections at the Netherlands Film Festival, we are excited to announce that MOUSTACHE has officially been nominated for both the Golden Calf for Best Short Film and the Filmprize of the city Utrecht (to be awarded to the winner of the NFF Debut competition) at this year’s festival.
The jury described MOUSTACHE as “a well-directed film with a big, warm-blooded heart, impressively carried by two bold and brilliant young actors. The film navigates through a difficult subject with love and humour, and an edge that requires taking risks not many would take.”
Sigrid ten Napel secured a nomination for Best Lead in a Short Film for her work as Nova in TRAUMA PORN CLUB.
The jury praised her ability to keep her character grounded and sympathetic among large genre-elements. They described her performance and charisma as elevating the film and said she can carry herself as a full-blooded scream queen with the intelligence and intuition of a true character-actor.
MOUSTACHE will also have its premiere at the festival.
The winner of the Debut Competition will be announced on Monday September 23 at the Talent Award Ceremony.
The Golden Calves are awarded on September 27 during the EY Golden Calves Gala.
