We are proud to announce that MOUSTACHE, written and directed by Idriss Nsangou Nabil, has won the Amarte Best Dutch Short Film Award 9+ at Cinekid 2024.
From the jury:
“MOUSTACHE is a film with a beautifully executed style. The cinematography and production design work perfectly with the occasionally separated reality of the film. The director has managed to build a strong world of his own. As a viewer you are completely sucked into the story. The stylized imagery contributes to the warm and joyful character of this film, while its message of friendship remains steadfast. The chemistry between its two leads is palpable and they give the viewer important values to consider. We cannot wait to see more (youth)films from this artist.”
MOUSTACHE
MOUSTACHE tells the story of Dalou (11), who only knows one thing about his dead father: he was a writer. Because of this, the boy has started writing a book himself, in which he chronicles the life of his best friend Coco. The book takes a turn when Coco suggests finding a substitute-dad for Dalou for school sports day. When the plan is close to success, however, Coco is struck with envy and the one thing that is most precious to them is challenged: their friendship.
MOUSTACHE is produced by Topkapi Films and supported by the Netherlands Film Fund through the Wildcard initiative.
