TOPKAPI FILMS CELEBRATES FOUR INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

In the Netherlands, Eva Crutzen’s comedy-drama series MESSED UP season 2 won the Zilveren Krulstaart (‘Silver Curly Tail’) for best screenwriting. The Zilveren Krulstaart is a Dutch professional screenwriting award, with winners chosen by fellow screenwriters. The award is an initiative of the Dutch Screenwriters Network. The first season of MESSED UP was awarded the same accolade in 2024. The second season of MESSED UP is now available on the streaming platform NPO Start.

In Argentina, Teodora Ana Mihai won the award for Best Director for the international co-production HEYSEL 85, during the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema (BAFICI). HEYSEL 85 tells the story of the real life drama that took place during the final game of the European Cup in 1985, and will be released in Dutch cinemas later this year.

In Poland, director Paloma Aguilera Valdebenito won the FIPRESCI Award for her film TREAT HER LIKE A LADY during the 19th Mastercard OFF CAMERA International Festival of Independent Cinema. The FIPRESCI Award is a Belgian honour to highlight outstanding contributions to the art of storytelling, awarded by national organisations of professional film critics and film journalists from around the world.

In Egypt, TREAT HER LIKE A LADY won the Jury Prize during the Aswan International Women Film Festival, with Nienke Plas winning Best Actress for her role of Sandra. TREAT HER LIKE A LADY will be released in Dutch cinemas on the 28th of May 2026.
