After her debut film OUT OF LOVE, Paloma Aguilera Valdebenito returns to the International Film Festival Rotterdam for the world premiere of her second feature film, TREAT HER LIKE A LADY.
The colourful comedy drama TREAT HER LIKE A LADY tells the story of single mother Sandra. Together with her two daughters, Harrie and Stella, she lives in Amsterdam, barely making ends meet.
When unpaid bills continue to pile up and she’s accused of fraud, Sandra must do everything she can, to keep her children out of the hands of social services. This fight against the system seems impossible. But Sandra refuses to give in.
The role of the charismatic Sandra is portrayed by Nienke Plas, who was introduced to the general public through her comedic videos and candid vlogs. Besides creating her own content, she has appeared in supporting roles in various feature films and on stage in her nation-wide sold out comedy tours.
The cast also includes Aimee Klaasenbos, Kaylyn Smart, Kyana Smart, Claude Musungayi, Lucinda Sedoc, and Delilah Warcup–van Eyck.
TREAT HER LIKE A LADY was written and directed by Paloma Aguilera Valdebenito and is produced by Topkapi Films in coproduction with the NTR and the Belgian production house Menuetto. With support from the Creative Europe Programme – MEDIA of the European Union, the Dutch Filmfund via Development, Cinescoop and Production Incentive, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund and Belgian Tax Shelter.
Cinéart wil release the film in the Benelux later this year.
