We are delighted to announce that Michael Middelkoop’s film Trauma Porn Club has won the Short Fiction category at the DDG Awards.
The DDG Awards honour the best and most significant Dutch directorial achievements of the past year, with winners chosen by their certified peers.
Trauma Porn Club tells the story of NOVA (27). Desperate for a creative spark to reinvigorate her career as a painter, she seeks out an underground subculture where people order traumatic experiences through an app. She quickly becomes addicted to this “traumaporn-club,” threatening to lose herself in a quest through Rotterdam’s grim underbelly to find the ultimate trauma.
The film is directed by Michael Middelkoop and written by Bodil Mattheeuwsen, made possible by Martin Koolhoven’s talent developing program, Koolhoven Presenteert. Trauma Porn Club is coproduced by VPRO.
