We are delighted to announce that two Topkapi Series, MESSED UP and SANTOS, have been nominated in the Video Fiction Category at the 2024 Prix Europa.
MESSED UP will be competing for Best European Video Fiction Mini Series of the Year, SANTOS will be competing for Best European Video Fiction Series of the Year. THE JEWISH COUNCIL is the only other Dutch series nominated this year.
MESSED UP
MESSED UP, written and directed by Eva Crutzen, follows the destructive life of 37-year-old Cat. People around her are worried, but Cat is not. Due to a significant family loss that is rarely discussed, there is hardly any family left. Her mother suffers from constant panic attacks, and her father has become a self-proclaimed life coach focused on writing self-help books. Meanwhile, nearly everyone around Cat is starting families, getting promotions, and settling down. While they all seem to be desperately seeking attention, she does everything she can to disappear as much as possible – vanishing into the night, underwater, and into her own mind.
Santos
SANTOS is written by Ashar Medina and Chris Middelkoop and directed by Giancarlo Sanchez and Ivan Barbosa. It revolves around the couple Glenn (Yannick Jozefzoon) and Yola (Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing), who are trying to build a life together in Rotterdam, separate from their families and friends. However, both families are involved in crime, which complicates their journey.
Both series were produced in collaboration with BNNVARA and are now available to watch on NPO Start.
