HEYSEL 85 TO PREMIERE AT BERLINALE

HEYSEL 85, the new feature film based on the real life drama that took place during the final game of the European Cup 1985, will have its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) as a Special Gala screening this month.

The film by director Teodora Ana Mihai stars Violet Breackman, Matteo Simoni and Josse De Pauw, amongst others and was written by Lode Desmet, Isabelle Darras, and Teodora Ana Mihai.

HEYSEL 85 tells the story of Marie, the daughter of the mayor of Brussels and also his press attaché, and Luca Rossi, a journalist with Italian roots. As chaos spreads in the stadium, they face the complex struggle between their professional duty, family ties and the human tragedies unfolding before their eyes.

HEYSEL 85 was produced by Menuetto Film, in coproduction with Topkapi Films, Les Films du Fleuve, and Leitwolf Filmproduktion together with in Casa KafkaPictures and Kinepolis Film Distribution (KFD). With the support of VAF, the Belgian Tax shelter, the Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel (CCA), The Netherlands Filmfund, the MOIN Filmfund Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein, and Creative Europe MEDIA.  

HEYSEL 85 will be showing in Dutch cinemas later this year.
