We are thrilled that Paloma Aguilera Valdebenito’s DE HEILIGE ANTONIUS receives the Cinescoop contribution of €1,800,000 from the Netherlands Film Fund.
The film depicts the story of a mother who is forced onto the streets after accumulating debts, putting her in an impossible position; caring for her children while also being a breadwinner. Controlling government agencies force her to make a radical choice.
Besides directing the film BLIJF BIJ ME WEG, Aguilera Valdebenito is also responsible for the screenplay, and is awarded with: Grand prix du jury films d’ ecoles Europeens and Primer premio (best international short film). The film was nominated in 2010 for the EFA European Film Awards. In 2011 she wrote and directed the film ENTRE NOSOTROS which won the Zilveren Fipa at the International Film Festival in Biarritz and was nominated for the debuts prize in Utrecht and for the Zilveren Krulstaart 2011/2012.
In 2016 Paloma’s first film OUT OF LOVE appeared in cinema’s, for which she received a nomination for a ‘Gouden Kalf’ for best scenario.
